Welcome to Ohev Sholom: The National Synagogue

Ohev Sholom: The National Synagogue is a dynamic Orthodox community that values Torah, prayer, and good deeds. Located in Northwest Washington, DC's thriving Shepherd Park neighborhood just steps from Maryland, we engage the modern world while embracing Halacha and Jewish Traditions.

On our newly re-designed website, you will see why OSTNS is such a warm and special community, including our uplifting Tefilah (services), enriching Torah shiurim (classes), chesed opportunities (good deeds), exciting events, and much, much more. We look forward to welcoming you into our community.

Reflections on Tefila with Dr. Ben Elton

Time: 8:45 am - 9:15 am, Location: shul library

Do you find that davenning goes past too quickly to think about the words? Do you want to connect better with prayer? Do you want your tefila to be more intentional? For six weeks for 30 minutes before the start of Shabbat Shacharit, a group will sit together in the shul library to reflect on the Ashrei and the five Halleluyas we say every morning in Pesukdei d'Zimra. We will take one psalm each week and concentrate on particular words and phrases, and then share our thoughts. The sessions will be led by Dr. Ben Elton and all are welcome to attend. All you need is a willingness to think and share.
